Plywood - general information

Raw material for plywood production is wood from pine, birch, alder and beech. The name of plywood depends on wood used for outer layers. Plywood panels can consist of one or several botanic species (for example homogenous birch plywood or mixed birch plywood, so-called “combi”). The purpose of plywood production is getting wood composite of huge plane and better properties than solid wood.

Type of plywood by the type of glue bond

Type of glue bond

Moisture resistant plywood - on the basis of urea-formaldehyde resin for use in dry conditions (according to PN-EN 636 technical class EN 636-1), meeting the requirements of 1 gluing class quality accordingto PN-EN 314-2

Semi weather-boil-proof*- with light glue bond – produced on the basis of urea-melamine-formaldehyde resinfor use in humid conditions (according to PN-EN 636 technical class EN 636-2), meeting the requirements of 2 gluing class quality according to PN-EN 314-2

Weather-boil-proof* - on the basis of phenol-formaldehyde resin for use in exterior conditions (according to PN-EN 636 technical class EN 636-3), meeting the requirements of 3 gluing class quality according to PN-EN 314-2

* water-resistance concerns the glue bond; wood used for plywood production is natural material. Its durability depends mainly on way of its using and protection against adverse weather conditions

All of general use plywood plates are produced in hygienic class E1, what is confirmed by attests issued by The Institute of Maritime and Tropical Medicine in Gdynia. Plywood with surfaces secured with phenol and melamine foil can be used for packaging and food transport according to the attest on the basis of researches conducted by National Institute of Hygiene in Warsaw.
